I love furniture. From the role it plays in our lives to its construction, underlying concepts and ability to conjure memories both collective and personal. The synthesis of my architectural education and my background in fine art and dance brought together the study of function, form, line, and material understanding with an emphasis on human scale; and I arrived at designing furnishings, lighting and objects. Over the last fifteen years, I have worked professionally in the fields of architecture, interior architecture, product design and academia. In addition to building my own collection, I currently work with multiple manufacturers and designers to bring their concepts to market through all stages of product development; from conceptual sketches through technical drawings, prototyping and production. I am lucky to have studied, lived, worked and traveled extensively in Scandinavia, which galvanized my interest in furniture and helped me truly understand human environments. It is not necessarily the regional ‘style’ that intrigues me, but the integration of cultural themes such as human comfort, resourcefulness of materials, appreciation of craft and a respect for history. I consistently draw from the things I learned there and apply them through a range of artistic, design and teaching practices. RESUME Coroflot Portfolio HOME |
