architecture-built
mimomo: P1, 2003
plywood, dimensional lumber, casters, twinwall polycarbonate

This is an evolving project that is designed to investigate people's awareness and use of their
immediate surroundings, specifically their domestic space. It is an experiment in the
overlapping of tasks performed within a small space, and the tolerance of an individual
existing in tight physical parameters.

This phase of the project involved building a life-size prototype of the living unit
that would be used as a bedroom within a larger loft space. This version of the piece
is embryonic in that it is umbilically tied to the larger space for things like water,
heat and electricity. The fabrication is similar to that of manufactured homes.

mimomo:P1 is permanent installation at the Texas Ballroom in the Bridgeport
neighborhood of Chicago and is currently reconstituted within the larger space.
